Spatial technology and visual communication to support nature conservation
Thanks for stopping by. This website was developed by me, Tom Allnutt, to share GIS-related work, projects, products, and consulting services.
I have strong interests and skills in natural history, biodiversity, conservation biogeography and conservation priority setting.
Specific technical skills and interests include GIS analysis and programming, cartography, remote sensing, web programming, database design and information management and dissemination. I am currently available for "on-demand" GIS, web-programming and database work, and am particularly interested in non-profit and/or conservation-related projects.
I carried out some of this work as an employee of the Conservation Science Program at World Wildlife Fund-US. More recently, I have been working as an independent GIS consultant and web-programmer (see the consulting section). Examples of these projects, including several downloadable products (e.g. an ArcView™ tool for conducting a simple GAP analysis, an ArcView™ based interface for MARXAN, and a tool to calculate species richness in ArcGIS ™) can be found in the projects section.
Contact me if you have questions, need assistance on a GIS, conservation or planning project, or are interested in collaboration.
Note: As of September 2008, I am an employee in Claire Kremen's Lab at UC Berkeley, based at WCS Madagascar, and not currently available for consulting work.
